The Breath That Moves You Toward Healing
When you're in fight or flight, your body is locked in survival mode. But when you're resting and digesting, you're healing. One of the easiest ways to make that shift? Your breath.
Let me show you a deep breathing technique that does more than just calm the nervous system. This method helps move lymphatic fluid from your lower body to your upper body—a key to detoxification, immune support, and better sleep.
Start by lying on your back. As you breathe out, let your stomach retract naturally. Then, as you inhale, let your stomach relax. Hold your chest firm to guide the air downward. You're aiming to push your lungs down into your lower body.
Next, expand your breath into your pelvic floor. Yes, even down to the crotch area. That’s where true lymphatic flow begins. Continue inhaling until your chest expands. Finally, draw air into the apex of your lungs, up into the throat.
Each breath becomes a journey:
Belly
Pelvis
Chest
Apex
Do five full breaths this way. Don’t worry if it feels tricky at first, it takes practice. But this kind of breathwork moves fluid, calms your nervous system, and promotes real healing.
Make it part of your bedtime routine or your quiet moments during the day. The benefits compound, and your body will thank you.
